So my update today is just about two things.
1) The cat on the main emilyruthdotca is Mikko, my roommate Laura's cat. He is like most cats in that he's all nice one minute and then the next he is trying to bite you. But he is still adorable. He's orange and long-haired so I'm always covered in cat hair now. I am trying to teach him to be nicer, but I don't know if it's working or not. Anyway, I think Laura is moving out at the end of this school year, so I will probably have to buy a cat.

2) I am doing a presentation on Alvar Aalto for Furniture History (On Fridays I have five straight hours of history - from 10-12 it's Furniture History, a second-year course, then from 12-3 it's Arts, Crafts, and Technology before the 20th Century.) He was a Finnish architect/designer around the 1930s/40s. Some of his designs seem exactly like what you would see in an IKEA catalogue, which is super-cool considering he was basically the first person to come up with a lot of them. Also his architecture is probably one of the reasons that that Australian band called themselves "Architecture in Helsinki". Just a thought!
