Here's the deal: I think I will use the actual emilyruthdotca as a portfolio sort of thing. And I might actually start using this as a blog instead of the place I occasionally post photos on. Or I'll put on a blog on the main site, but not as the main feature. I'm still figuring it out. There may just be a picture of a cat for a very long time. At least it's a pretty cat!
Anyway, I'll start blogging by telling you about my day! Today I had peer mentor training. I am going to be an International Peer Mentor, helping international students adjust to life in Canada and all that jazz. So today was the training day. We had a breakfast, a motivational speaker, information about the peer mentoring program, lunch, and workshops by Second City. The speaker and the workshops were the best part. Learned a bit about how to do improv; now I want to start an improv club or something! Okay, probably not, but it was fun anyway.
So that was from 9-3, and then I made my way over to the textiles studio. I made four prints, each of them have the letters of my name being carried by balloons. And the backgrounds are: a sunset, a storm, a starry night, and a sunny day. I was there for about 4.7hrs.
Then I came home and chatted with my roommate Qian. She's from China, and she told me a bit about what she thought of the differences between there and here. I made cookies yesterday, so I dipped them in tea while we talked.
Now I have spent almost two hours tinkering around on the Internet. And I am listening to Belle & Sebastian inspired radio on Pandora. I have barely even touched the Globe and Mail, so I should at least read the breaking news, and maybe the rest tomorrow. Good night!
