01 March 2008

okay, so I am pretty close to failing at PEYEIYBM. But it is only the day after it ended so I think I can save myself. Probably not thoroughly, but I will give it my best effort. It was a craaazy week, and I barely had time to eat properly let alone blog about it. What's interesting is that a lot of the stuff I was doing pertained to food. For example, I am doing as much as I can to help get Laurier's new farm market up and running. Also, at the Global Citizenship Conference next weekend there is going to be a fashion show and the topic is Decommodifying Food. Plus I spent a bit of time trying to figure out food for the Geog. Dept. Meet the Profs next week.

Maybe I will start with breakfasts.
This week for breakfast I probably had toast a few times, and cereal a few times. Right now I'm eating some kind of whole grain bread and natural PB, and for cereal I'm eating honey nut cheerios. Friday breakfast was awesome because I got it for free from the city of Kitchener! I had a very small portion of eggs, two hashbrowns, a muffin, some fruit, a yogurt and a coffee.

Lunches!
Pretty sure my lunches were all over the place this week. I can't remember one specific "lunch" that I had. This is due to several early suppers and several times where I think I just snacked. I had a muffin and a coffee probably at least once. Oh, I had a falafel this week! Maybe twice! They were only okay. Also Friday I also got a free lunch thanks to the Geog. Dept.! I had a roasted vegetable sandwich and carrots and celery. It was decent.

Suppers.
Good news! I remember what I ate on Wednesday and Thursday! Wednesday night I had asparagus and toast, and Thursday I had asparagus and a fake chicken burger. Friday night I had some sort of cheese-filled pasta and pesto. I'm pretty sure I had that on Monday night too and possibly Tuesday night.

Snacks!
This week I have been snacking on dried apricots and dates and nuts. On Tuesday night I bought a wrap from the cereal place in the Terrace. It had chocolate peanut butter, bananas, and strawberries. I only ate half of it and I finished the other half the next day. Last night I had popcorn and caramel corn! On Tuesday we had a farm market awareness with free samples of bagels and sesame cookies and apple butter and pea butter (no nuts) and honey and crackers. It was all really good.

Yeah, I think that was my week! I'm hoping to have some free time tomorrow so I can scan my DEYEAPIIYBD pictures.

See you next year!

Okay, let's see if I can remember everything...

Thursday night I had some crispix in soy milk.

Friday morning I think I had some raisin bran in soy milk. Then I went to William's Coffee Pub where I had a waffle and some fruit and a coffee. But I had a headache so I didn't stick around long. Except I'm pretty sure that happened Thursday morning but I really can't remember.

Friday afternoon I fried up some green pepper and onion and had it with a fake chicken burger. And a ginger beer.

In the evening Wafaa and I went to William's coffee pub where I had two cups of coffee, a mango smoothie, and a zucchini walnut muffin. Gosh, I bought a lot this week.

Saturday morning I think I finished off the crispix and soy milk. Then I went to Starbucks where I had two cups of peppermint tea and some lemon poppyseed loaf. Yes, I was pretty low on food at this point and was a little too stressed to go grocery shopping.

In the evening I made a whopping amount of ground soy and green pepper and onion and then put half of it on some hamburger bun. And I also had a fake beer. Later in the evening I had a coffee and some nutella.

There were various times throughout the weekend where I had toast or a bagel but all of my bread has been in the freezer for too long and it didn't taste good. I also ate an apple or two, plus several cups of tea!

Sunday was nice! Tried to eat a bagel in the morning but see the previous paragraph for the result. Went to the Rude Native around 3:30 to meet my cousin and had some sparkling water and veggie samosas. They were delicious! Then I went to choir practise around the corner, and then I came back to the Rude! I had grilled cheese and french fries and a Rickard's Red. Such a good deal.

Oh geez, so where did I leave off. I really can't remember what I had for supper on Monday, and my mom didn't blog it either so I guess that's that! I probably just snacked or something.

Tuesday morning I probably had cereal for breakfast. Then I met up with someone at Starbucks so I had a coffee. My mom and sister picked me up and we went to some Viet Thai place downtown where I had Pad Thai. It wasn't as good as Ben Thanh's. Later in the evening I probably had tea. I came back to my apartment and then I had more tea and some tapioca pudding, maybe?

Wednesday I will be posting later, as it was DEYEAPIIYBD.

Thursday! For breakfast I had yogurt. Lunch was a bagel. Somewhere in there I finished off the tapioca pudding. Supper was leftover cheesy garlic squash and noodles plus a near-beer. Then I went to Starbucks and got a coffee, which I didn't really feel like drinking, but I did.

I'm doing really poorly at being specific with my PEYEIYBM this year. Maybe I will try harder for the last week (but maybe not).

FRIDAY THE FIFTEENTH
I woke up with cramps and so I ate a can of pineapple for breakfast. I didn't feel well enough to eat until I got to my parents' house, where my mom made me a veggie burger and veggies, but I wasn't able to eat the whole meal. Oh, before that I think I had some delicious plantain chips. My aunt and uncle came for dinner and we had nasi goreng! It was delicious. Dessert was icecream and apples and dates. Late in the evening I had a bowl of Special K Berries. Probably some tea. Maybe some more tea.

SATURDAY THE SIXTEENTH
It was a wedding! Before the wedding I had some cereal, same as the day before. For lunch at the wedding I had two carrots, two pickles, and a piece and a half of bread. I am a vegetarian who is not opposed to eggs, but cannot eat them due to grossness, and therefore avoided the quiche. I also had two cups of coffee, a cupcake and a half, and a Sleeman's Clear. It should be noted that that was not my choice, but my dad offered to get me a beer since I was already sitting down and that is what he came back with. Luckily my years of drinking Molson Excel have enabled me to drink the worst of beers without complaint. Later in the day we had pizzzza! It was so good. Pesto and artichokes and all kinds of delicious vegetables. And I even had a small amount of salad! In the evening I think I ate some cookies.

SUNDAY THE SEVENTEETH (typos are fun sometimes!)
I think I had a decaf coffee for breakfast because those were the only pods left for the coffee maker. Maybe some cereal too? My mom made a family lunch of some cheesy-garlicy pasta with squash. It is really rad and delicious. Then I probably ate a bunch of cupcakes and cookies or something. And some spicy plantain chips. Later in the day Anna and I watched a bunch of ANTM and ate lots of fruit! I think I had a near-beer too. Because I'm strange like that.

MONDAY THE 18th
Breakfast of Cereal. A little later a coffee and kisses. That is, chocolate kisses. For lunch it was fake meat and fake beer! That is, veggie burgers with fried onions and lettuce, plus a near-beer. And that's it so far.

14 February 2008

Well, I'm happy to say that the week of terrible eating is just about over. Overall from 8:30AM Monday to 6:30PM today (Thursday), I think I spent about 47 hours on campus. It was crazy, and I am looking forward to getting back to somewhat healthy eating.

Anyway, last night I thought I would be hungry enough to eat something when I got home, but I wasn't! And when I woke up this morning I was sort of hungry, but all of my small plates and my one big bowl were dirty so I just had a small bowl of yogurt. Luckily my first class only lasted half an hour so I went to the library and got a coffee and a muffin. Then, I went to the map library, where the Graduate Geography Students' Association were having a bake sale so I had a brownie and a cupcake. Yes, it's awful, I know. I mean, the muffin and brownie were good, but my eating habits need work.

I decided to wait until after my midterm to have lunch, so around 3:30 I bought a grilled cheese. Then at 4:30 there was a newspaper social/thank you at Wilf's, the school pub, so I had pitas and fajitas and nachos and fries and free beer! Then I came home and slept for a tiny bit, then had toast and tea and just now I had some cereal. And now I get to go to bed!

13 February 2008

Proof that I have been too busy to blog since my last post: I have been up since then, which was 36 hours ago! Let's see, what did I eat....

Tuesday morning breakfast was probably toast and coffee. Or maybe a bagel or maybe crispix. Whatever. Lunch was leftover pizza, of course. So was supper. I think I had a coffee or two in there somewhere. Then I went to the newspaper office where I had another piece of pizza. Then I had a coffee around 11, as I had this feeling that it would be a long night. I was right. Around 3AM I was really dang peckish so I bought a bag of Doritos from the vending machine. Thanks to the election disaster I didn't end up leaving until 7:15AM, and I was very, very hungry by that point.

When I got home on Wednesday morning I had a bagel and rushed back to school, grabbing a Tim's coffee on the way to calculus. I also got a muffin which I ate half of before my midterm, and the other half afterwards. At this point I must have been running on pure adrenalin as I was incredibly hungry but didn't really feel the need to eat. At 2:30 my mom and I went to a Canadian Organic Growers meeting and I had some tostitos and homemade salsa. It was good. Then I waited a bit longer and finally I had some real food - a falafel from Pita Pit. It was too big and fell apart and I only ate half of it, but it was still decent. And I got a coffee from Second Cup. Because apparently I drink a lot of coffee now. Probably the highlight of the day was Aimee's peanut butter cookie in the map library just now. So good.

Okay, that's all for now.

12 February 2008

Okay, I know you've all been sitting at the edges of your seats waiting for another update, so here it is!

Sunday afternoon I went to Starbucks and had a coffee. Then I came home and I was in one of those "too hungry to think" states, so I made two meatless chicken burgers. They were kind of gross, but edible. (I am generally opposed to non-meat food that look/taste like meat, but sometimes I get busy and have to forfeit my values). I also had a ginger beer! Anyway, later in the day I was still super-studying so I got my mom to bring me a pizza in exchange for something I needed to give her. It had green and red peppers, onion, tomatoes, some other vegetable, and, unfortunately, feta cheese. Oh well, it was still good. I had some for supper. Even later in the evening I went out to Starbucks and got another coffee, then stopped at the Hasty Market and picked up some Korean snacks and some sour worms. I think I also probably had toast or an orange sometime in the evening, but I have no idea when.

Then, Monday happened! Woke up early to have a bagel and a coffee. I came home for lunch and had some leftover pizza. Back to school for awhile, then met mom for another Starbucks. Came home and had some more pizza. Finished off the candy from yesterday. Had a ginger beer. Played frisbee, almost died, another meeting, home, calculus, tea, bed.
